what an educational sunday!

It really all started yesterday when I was flipping through the channels on TV and stumbled on the Wizard of Oz. I can't remember the last time I watched that movie, but I'm pretty sure I wore that VHS I had out- or pretty close to it.

This morning I was looking at some wizard of oz doodles and saw the original illustrations from the book. SO NEAT! His name? William Wallace Denslow. AND HE'S GOT THE BEST ANTIQUE MUSTACHE! I died when I saw this! He's actually a pretty crazy life and died kind of young (59). He went on a road trip with a reporter and did cartoons for a newpaper, got his big break with the wizard of oz, got all on top and then had some crazy fight with a publishing company and then drank himself into the shadows and got pneumonia.... there's a movie in there somewhere.

WELL- on a more positive note, I found out he was buried in Valhalla, NY (which is only about an hour from me) in Kensico Cemetery. I'm going to visit Party Mustache Billy. It will be glorious.
